2012 Acura MDX – Advance information
The 2012 Acura MDX is your ultimate crossover luxury SUV with a body and comical grill that draws in the customers. This model will vary little from the 2011 Acura MDX but will close the book on the second-generation version of this unique upscale seven passenger SUV. The only difference one might see with the 2012 model is better fuel economy, more interior room and will have a price increase. The Acura MDX made its debut with the 2007 model and was upgraded in 2010.
Some of the things that the new 2012 Acura MDX might offer are, in addition to fuel economy and more interior room, a few more color choices, and maybe a special trim edition that will commemorate the final year of this design. With the great packaging, the MDX’s second row will offer outstanding space for two adults to sit in contoured comfort. There will be a third backset again which will be okay for the children but will make an adult feel scrunched up.
The 2012 Acura MDX’s cabin is among the best in class with it style and quality craftsmanship. The owner will once again see standard leather upholstery, rich padded door panels, and metallic-finished panel trim. This 2012 model will retain the standard power lift gate along with the rear seating that will continue to split and fold. This will once again give 42.9 cubic feet of cargo behind the second seats. Honda will continue to use the 3.7 liter V-6 motor six-speed automatic transmission which will give 276 pounds feet of torque and 300 horsepower. It will also have the standard all wheel drive.
Like the 2011 model, it will also feature a standard power moon roof, heated front seats with the passenger seat having eight way power and the driver seat have a ten way power, and xenon headlights. It will come with the new rearview backup camera, automatic dimming rearview mirror, heated outside mirrors, tri-zone automatic climate control, and a telescope/tilt steering wheel.
Although Honda has not announced the date the 2012 Acura MDX will debut or the price of this newer model, speculation is that it will debut in the summer of 2011, and the price will be similar to the 2011 model. The price range will be $44,000 to $55,000. This base price will keep the 2012 Acura MDX in competition with the 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML, the BMW X5, and the base Porsche Cayenne. With the six cylinder engine, it should also continue to pace the Infiniti FX in pricing but will be slightly higher than the alternatives Volvo XC60 and the Lexus RX350.
To break it down, the 2012 MDX base price should start around $44,000 but if you add in the Technology Package the price will jump to around $47,600. The price will jump to about $49,600 if you include both the Entertainment and Technology package. If you equip the 2012 Acura MDX with the Advance Package, the price is going to rise to $53,700 and if you add the Entertainment and Advance package, you can figure to spend approximately $55,600.
Based on the fuel economy ratings fro the 2011 Acura MDX the 2012 model should get approximately 16 miles per gallon city and 21 miles per gallon highway. With this mileage, it should keep the Acura MDX below rates for the newer competition such as the BMX5. It should be in comparison though with Mercedes ML, the Volvo XC60, and the Infiniti FX. Unfortunately, like most of the rival models, the Acura is going to require the premium octane fuel.
