Acer Aspire AS5253-BZ602 review, AMD E-350 notebook
Acer Aspire AS5253-BZ602 is the 15.6 inch notebook, powered by AMD’s latest E-350 APU or the Accelerated Processing Unit. If you are note familiar, APU is the new term coined by AMD. APU is created out of the fusion of the graphics Unit into the CPU unit. The terms APU and the processor are however, still used interchangeably. The E-350 has a has dual core processor clocked at 1.6 GHz. The performance is decent and the two most significant features of this chip is the low power consumption and the good graphics performance.
As part of the Acer Aspire AS5253-BZ602 review, we present a concise specification of the notebook. Here it goes.

As you can see, notebook has pretty much everything to make it a decent home and office computing machine. The HDMI and the integrated webcam makes it a complete machine for the office and home computing environment. Here are the details of the individual components of the Acer Aspire AS5253-BZ602.
Processor
The AMD’s Zacate E-350 APU that powers the Acer Aspire AS5253-BZ602, is based upon a pair of 1.6 GHz processor bobcat core with an integrated graphics unit. Its 1 MB cache for each of the two cores makes decent performance. But the important feature is not the processor performance but the graphics performance of this APU. But unfortunatley, it looks like the software support is still not available to take full advantage of the Zacate APU’s graphics core.
Memory and Hard Disk
The Acer Aspire AS5253-BZ602 comes with a rather smaller 2 GB RAM and a 250 GB hard disk. While we do not have any complaint with the smaller hard disk, you may find 2 GB RAM, slightly low for some of the applications, especially, if you are running multiple programs in parallel.
Display
Acer Aspire AS5253-BZ602 comes with a 15.6 inch LCD screen with 1366 x 768 resolution.
Other Features
The Acer Aspire AS5253-BZ602 come with HDMI output that can be used to display the content of the notebook on an external HDTV.
Bottomline
The Acer Aspire AS5253-BZ602 is an entry level notebook, that competes in price with some of the netbooks. In performace it competes with the entry level notebooks, but trails somewhat in the performance. It promises a good graphics performance.
Acer Aspire AS5253-BZ602 deserves a serious look, if you are planning an entry level notebook.
