The Aspire One AOD255E-13608 from Acer, is yet another netbook in the long series of the Acer’s netbook. All of them have pretty much similar specifications – powered by the intel Atom N455 processor, 10.1 inch screen , 1 GB RAM and 250 GB Hard disk. There is essentially nothing much new in this netbook.

Quick facts at a glance

– Powered by Intel Atom N455 processor – 1.66 GHz, single core, supports hyperthreading
– 10.1 inch screen with 1024 x 600 resolution, the backlight is lit by LED.
– Wired networking with wireless 802.11 b/g/n networking capability.
– 3 USB ports
– Windows 7 starter edition.

Let us take a look at the individual components of the Acer AOD255E-13608.

You are obviously not expecting a great deal of performance with the single core 1.66 GHz Atom N455 processor. However, this processor will let you do your word processing, surfing and email. It does support Hyperthreading, so it is not too bad for multi processing. But yes, the processor does not stand to wind against the myriad of high performance dual core processors available today from Intel as well as AMD. Especially worth mentioning is the AMD’s zacate E-350 ( a dual core processor, very low power, and great leap in graphics performance).

Memory and Hard disk
The Aspire AOD255E-13608 comes with 250 GB of hard disk and we really have no complaint with the amount of the hard disk itself. However, the 1 GB RAM is really a bit low, and had it not been the started edition of the Windows 7, the OS itself would have taken that space. You will find programs with large memory footprint to be performing sluggishly.

The 10.1″ LCD screen gives out brilliant display with LED backlighting. It has a resolution of 1024 x 600, actually pretty good for the small screen size.

Battery and Battery Life

One of the key aspect of the netbooks is large battery life. You may get close to 4 hours of battery life with the AOD255E-13608 netbook. But we will have to check more AOD255E-13608 reviews before commenting on that.
