The intel Atom N455 processor that powers the Aspire One AOD255E-13865 is single core processor that runs at 1.66 GHz. The Hyperthreading slightly improves the performance of the processor, but, still, you will not be able to use this processor for any high computing environments. The processor should however be decent enough for you home and office computing environment that requires internet browsing, email checking, word and spreadsheet editing.
You will find the 1GB RAM a bit low in case you are working on several programs simultaneously. This is another reason, starredreviews does not recommend the Atom N455 based netbooks in particular. Wait for the price reduction on the AMD’s zacate E-350 based notebooks and you will get a performance netbook under $400.
The webcam and the wifi itself are decent features, though you may find the missing DVD drive annoying. You will not be able to install any program that comes on the DVD drive directly. You will find the USB connector useful for your tasks. The hard disk too, at 250 GB is more than enough for most purpose.
The only plus point about AOD255E-13865 netbook is its low price, and if this is the deciding factor, you may like to go ahead and buy one.
