Allahabad to New Delhi Flight Review – Air India AI-9812

This review at starredreviews.com is based upon the real experience on traveling by Air India between Allahabad (IXD) to New Delhi (DEL) by AI-9812

The last minute cancellation of the second AC train ticket from Allahabad to New Delhi by Rewanchal Express, led to the consideration of alternate routes. This was when that I came to know that the air flight between Allahabad’s Bamrouli Airport Station and the New Delhi International Airport runs six days a week ( All days except Sunday). All the websites including yatra.com and expedia.com quoted prices that were marginally higher that the price quoted by the Air India’s direct website – https://book.airindia.in – The price paid finally was Rs 3705. The prices quoted at expedia.co.in and yatra were about Rs 3785. Additionally expedia refused to accept the International credit card that I was attempting to use.

The experience with Air India’s online booking process was generally good. I received a confirmation email. When I called Air India customer service they did confirm that the ticket was good to go.

My connecting flight at New Delhi was to Newark using Continental Airlines on the same day. So any cancelation of the Allahabad to Delhi flight could mean disaster to my trip plan. So, I called Air India staff at Bamrouli Airport to know if the flights get cancelled often. They replied that the flight rarely cancel and when it does – it is usually due to bad weather. I cross checked the online departure records and found no record of cancelation during the last week.

The Bamraouli Airport Station is not very far from the Main City. It takes no more than 35 minutes or so from the main City ( Railway Station). Entering the Bamrouli Airport will give you a very pleasant experience and the premises are maintained by the Air Force. The Civilian Airport is a small part of the vast area occupied by Army.

The flight was shown at departing at 1:30 and arriving at 3:30 in Delhi. The flight departed in time and landed Delhi Airport at 3:05 PM – well before its scheduled time.

The plane was a small 50 seater and about 40 seats were occupied in it. The two Air India Hostess were tall, young and pleasant looking – much better than most of the aging western Airline hostesses.

A bottled lime water was served immediately after the plane took off. About 15 minutes later a snack ( Bread and Jam sandwich).

The Plane arrived at Terminal 3 of the Delhi Airport. The arrived real quick. Catching the connecting international flight is easy. You need to come out and then enter rge Departure gate on the same T3 terminal – you do not need to make any travel on road.

One drawback – the baggage has a limitation of maximum 20 kg. So, if you are an international traveler with heavy luggage, you should prepare accordingly.

In general the Air India travel was pleasant and is highly recommended. The travel with train could be exhausting.
