AMD FX-4110 Benchmark – Windows 7 Experience Index

According to the video uploaded at youtube, we have a little bit of information about the to be launched AMD’s bulldozer processor – the FX-4110.

Note that the FX series from the AMD launches on the April 11 ( or April 20 according to some other sources)

1. That FX-4110 should have a frequency of 3.40 GHz – give or take 200 MHz. We expect the frequency to ramp a little higher. But we will keep our lips tight till the release of the processor.

2. The Windows 7 Experience Index is 7.9 according to the Video releases. Take a look at the picture below.

AMD has claimed 50% performance improvement in the 8 core bulldozer processor with respect to the Intel Core i7 950 processor. It is learned that this information has been given to the system manufacturers and is probably under NDA.

The AMD FX-4110 is a 4 core processor.

Can we expect the AMD stocks to rock once the bulldozer launches ? I am buying some more stocks of AMD for now, to take advantage of any hedging.

The 50% performance improvement could be slight exaggeration. But definitely this processor looks promiosing with the Module and the two core per module architecture. It reduces the power consumption and offers more processing power per core.

In future, we may see more changes in processor architecture where the processor is designed based upon “statistically” what kind of instructions are executed more. The cell phone ASICS are being doled out tailored according to the application requirements. So we wil have dedicated hardware for the most used application / instructions.

This will help 5x to 10x performance improvement made possible by the application specific hardware.
