AMD Phenom ii N660 Processor

The AMD’s Phenom II N660 is a dual core processor clocked at 3.0 GHz.  The AMD Phenom ii N660 has no L3 Cache, but has a total of 2 MB of L2 Cache. The L2 Cache partly makes up  for the missing L3 cache.  The relatively higher clock frequency makes it a moderate performance processor in instances where single and dual threads are running.

Do you know ?

The 2.53 GHz dual core Intel core i3-380M has a passmark score 2334 as compared to the passmark score of Phenom ii N660’s score of 1826, even though it is clocked significantly higher at 3.0 GHz.

The Integrated Memory Controller in AMD Phenom ii N660 reduces the processor to memory latency and increases the processor to memory communication speed. In case of the Intel core 2 duo processor, for example, the processor communicates with the North Bridge which in turn communicates with the memory.

Built with the 45 nm technology, AMD Phenom ii N660 has a relatively low TDP rating of 35 Watts and is intended for mobile computing. The Architecture of the Phenom 2 is similar to Intel Core i3 processors in terms of Integrated Memory Controller and communication with the chipset. The Intel’s DMI Bus is similar to the AMD’s HyperTransport Bus ( used for processor to chipset communication). However, the Phenom processor does not support the HyperThreading as in case of the Core i3 processors. Also the Intel Core i3 processors have 3 GB L3 shared Cache. These facts will make a similarly clocked Intel core i3 processor faster than the Phenom ii processor.

The AMD Phenom ii N660 improves the frequency of its smaller brother N620 by a 200 MHz or 6.67%. We should therefore expect a performance improvement of the order of 6%. For example while the super Pi in the case f the Phenom ii N660 takes 65 seconds, we can expect it to take close to 60 seconds in case of N660. By comparison the Intel core i3-330M, the entry level processor takes close to 50 seconds

Other key features of the AMD Phenom ii N660 include 64 bit support and the Hardware Virtualization. The N660 also supports the latest multimedia instruction sets including SSE4A.

    hey Jorge,
lo siento, no tengo tiempo que dije en espanol.
but the decision u want to ask urself first is: how much money do u want to put out )para comprar)

the intel i3 processor is a good quality but not as good as the i5… but then, u have to pay more money.

on the other hand, AMD processors are very good and affordable. I’m sure u would not notice very much difference within just so many seconds between the intel i and AMDs… and the AMD processors are mas facil para su dinero en su bolsa.

I have both intel i7 and AMD phenom. To tell u the truth, if u don’t play many games on ur pc and if u use ur pc (computador) for just movies and music, es mejor a comprar AMD. Save u money.

If you want to play a game, buy a XBOX or nintendo. it’s better for u and ur pc.
