If you are interested in detail of the Acer AX3400-U4032 – here it goes

This Acer desktop comes with 3.1 GHz quad core Athlon ii 645 processor. Photo courtsey amazon

The Processor

The AMD Athlon-II X4-645 is a 4 core processor clocked at 3.1 GHz. The processor has 512KB of L2 cache making up a total of 2 MB of cache memory. The lack of the L3 cache is partly made up by the fast Integrated memory controller. The Athlon 645 is a bargain processor, which is evident from the price of the desktop. And we do not sacrifice the performance when we are looking for low price.

RAM and Hard Disk

Acer AX3400-U4032 desktop comes with 6 GB of DDR3 RAM which is another reason why we can rank it as a high end desktop. The Hard disk comes with 1 TeraByte. You are probably never going to utlilize more than half of the hard disk in the life of desktop, unless, of course you are storing a large number fo videos and video clips.

Graphics

The graphics is powered by the NVIDIA GeForce 9200. The desktop itself does not include a monitor ( though the bundle does come with Keyboard and mouse).

Other Connectivity Features

The Acer AX3400-U4032 comes with HDMI connector in built, in case you want to project the contents of the desktop on a LCD TV or a projector. There are 9 USB connectors. The Gigabit Ethernet will help in the ultra fast speed data transfer in the intranet connection ( though the internet speed will not benefit by the Gigabit). The wireless connectivity feature is another plus point for this notebook.

Software

Besides the preloaded Windows 7 Home Premium operating system, the Acer AX3400-U4032 comes with Microsoft Office Starter edition and the McAfee Trial version. You may like to uninstall the AcAfee and install the free AVG Antivirus instead. The Microsoft Office Starter edition is only a teaser.

Bottom Line

We do not see anything negative with the Acer AX3400-U4032. It comes at a affordable price of $500, has HDMI, wifi and a modestly fast Athlon quad core processor. All you need is a deal in sub $500 to sweeten the buying process.
