August 19th, 2011 2 comments

I received an Orcad file likely generated in version 16.2 when I received the following error.

ERROR [DBO3959] Attempt to read a design file which is not supported by this version of database

I am using orcad 10.2. Anyone knows of a known solution to this problem ? Anyway – I can downgrade this to a lower version ( using save as etc) and then be able to open it ?

The rumors are true. Bogatin Enterprises was recently acquired by LeCroy Corporation, a marriage of the top signal integrity training company and the supplier of the highest bandwidth oscilloscopes and serial data analyzers in the industry. With new partners, Bogitin Enterprises will continue providing the signal integrity classes that have set the standard in the industry. You may like to read more about this acquisition at:

For the first time ever, Bogatin Enterprises are bringing two of our most popular classes to Boston. If you are confused about S-parameters and want to learn how to extract the valuable information locked inside this black box model, or if you want to open your eyes in high speed serial links, Lecroy is bringing classes for you at Boston.

Lenovo G570-43344JU at Frys for $268 – Pentium B940

August 5th, 2011 No comments

A Sandy Bridge based notebook just for $268 – Oh yeah !!! If we are to believe that the latest email that popped in from Fry’s weekly deal.

But the Euphoria faded fast once I checked the link that said –
Shipping:Unavailable Notify me when product is available
Store Pickup: Check Availability

Well Frys’s stores are not there in the area I live in, so there is no question of checking the in store availability. I doubt few, if any of the stores still have these in stock ( Anyone in California and Texas). But if it does it is definitely a worth pick.

Lenovo G570 43344JU is powered by the Pentium B940 dual core processor clocked at 2 GHz. The major difference with the corresponding second generation core i3 processor is the lack of the Hyperthreading. The processor comes with integrated graphics which will make graphics experience richer. The integrated graphics is one the processors, helps system builder bring you low cost notebooks ( They will not have to integrate another graphics chip in the notebook).

The low cost of t he Lenovo G570 notebook makes it affordable for and arrives just in time as the schools open. Even if you get it somewhat higher than the over hyped low price $268 – the notebook is worth it. The 2GB of memory may seem low, but is actually not as bad as you may have thought.

The standard 15.6″ HD screen comes with 1366×768 resolution. Lenovo G570 43344JU comes with all the features of a regular notebook including, Integrated 802.11b/g/n WiFi, USB 2.0 ( 480 Mbps) connectors, Integrated DVD reader/writer. It provides Integrated web camera, even while keeping the cost down.

– Low cost on deals
– Sandy Bridge B940 processor with integrated Intel HD graphics
– Integrated webcam

– Low 2 GB Memory
– Deal price at Fry’s not available

Lenovo G570 43344JU is not a high end notebook, but good enough for most of the computing needs. Remember an iPad for which you pay more than double the price has half the performance of this notebook. So looking at Performance of this notebook with respect to an iPad, you are looking at an advantage of 4:1 for this notebook. Add to this the convenient of a Windows Operating system, and the keyboard ( if you type a lot).

According to Lenovo

“Designed as a versatile but affordable notebook, built with durability in mind from the makers of ThinkPad Lenovo Energy Management—protects the long-term durability of the battery and uses advanced energy-saving technology to increase time spent between charges. OneKey® Rescue System makes data backup and recovery simple so you can spend time on more enjoyable tasks”

Intel Core i7-2677M processor

August 4th, 2011 No comments

Intel Core i7-2677M is latest processor and comes under the Sandy Bridge chips category that belongs to the ULV processor series.  This is a powerful and efficient Ultra Low Voltage processor exclusively designed for light and thin laptops.  This processor is very well enabled with Turbo Boost technology 2.0 in it for over clocking its base frequency from 1.7 GHz to 2.8 GHz successfully. It will be at 2.5GHz frequency, when both cores of the processor are loaded. This over clocking facility for the processor is mainly dependent on the power consumption and cooling conditions of the laptop. There is another special feature in it as Hyper-Threading, which will enable to handle 4 threads in parallel for the processor.

Actually, this Sandy Bridge is the successor for the famous Arrandale architecture. The major improvement with its predecessor is its Turbo Boost 2.0 technology and graphics card integration within 32nm CPU Core. This processor announced on 27th June, 2011.

IT has one integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 in it, which can clock at 350 or 1200 MHz through turbo Boost. It is an acceptable fact that this graphics facility got lower clock rate without Turbo Boost technology.

The performance of the Intel i7-2677M processor is comparatively higher than the similarly clocked Arrandale architecture based core i5. Turbo Boost 2.0 is the major reason behind this improvement. If there is no Turbo Boost 2.0 technology with this processor, than it will be as same as Core i3-2330M processor. However, this Turbo Boost 2.0 performance and support can be accountable basing on the laptop cooling conditions. The effective Turbo Boost 2.0 performance demands relative cooling measures for the laptop.

The Intel Core i7-2677M processor equipped with 128KB L1 Cache and 512KB L2 cache in each core. Its Thermal Power design is 17 Watt. This processor manufactured in 32nm technology. Its major features are Turbo Boost 2.0, Hyper-Threading, Virtualization VT-x, Virtualization for Directed I/O (VT-d), Trusted Execution, AES, Intel 64, My Wi-Fi, Idle States, and enhanced SpeedStep, Thermal monitorin, Execute Disable Bit and 64 Bit support.

How people use freelance site to get links

August 3rd, 2011 1 comment

People use micro blogging sites to get backlinks. In many cases they are ready to pay $3 for a 50 words article for a PR3 site with a link to the the websites.

A typical write up looks as follows

What is expected from Workers?

Your website/ blog must be at least PR3 or higher. You must own the domain and self hosted site. No free hosted blogs on wordpress, blogspot, blogger, forums, etc. A site with extension: CO.CC will not be accepted. The site must be in English only.

Sites not accepted: Travel, Health, Sports, Gambling, Warez, Pornography, illegal websites will not be accepted.

1. In your blog/ website, write a 50-word post/ article about any one (or more) of following products mentioned on our website:
– Pneumatic Drum capseal crimping tool
– Hand operated Drum capseal crimping tool
– Pneumatic Drum plug wrench (Bung tightener)
– Hand operated Drum plug wrench (Bung tightener)
– Drum capseal

2. Include the corresponding link(s) as explained in the Doc file :

You may use some content/ text/ pictures from our website. But you need to reword the text to look original. For background knowledge, read this wiki page:

The link must be clickable, “do follow”, permanent, and placed within the article. Plain html link only; no javascript, no iframes, no special characters. The post must appear on your homepage for at least 10 days. After that, it must remain active on your site for at least 1 year. Example : Do not mention “paid review or paid text links or sponsors.”

Required proof that task was finished?

1. URL of your blog/ site where our link can be found initially (homepage)
2. URL of your blog/ site where our link can be found later on
3. Your email address

Does this scheme works ?

It is debatable whether this scheme works or not. There is some basic flaw with the freelancing sites. There is no guarantee that the webmaster will not remove the links shortly after he gets paid ( typically $3). The person who posts this job is at the mercy of the webmaster’s whim for the links.

The scheme also looks “unnatural” and potentially comes under the category of “purchased links”. This “may” potentially  lead to google penalizing the site for the buying the link.  However, you may get at least few links that that stays and will have at least some effect even if it stays for a few month, if it does not get penalized.

Starredreviews Recommendation

Starredreviews does not recommend using such sites for building links. The link building should follow naturally based upon the strength of the website rather than be solicited.  However, if your competitor indulges in such practice and stays unpenalized, you may be at slight disadvantageous position.

The best practice would be to depend upon the strength of the content. You may however use these websites bookmarking, soliciting comments. It may also be a good idea to post a link of your page to bookmarking sites and ask for comments for these freelancers.
