The Inspiron Mini 1018 Netbook is powered by Intel Atom N455 processor – which is a single core processor at 1.66 GHz. Obviously the netbook is not intended if you need processing horsepower, but, if mobility and battery life is your concern, Inspiron Mini 1018 Netbook could be a good choice.

Inspiron Mini 1018 Netbook has 1 GB of DDR3 memory and comes with Windows 7 starter for small notebooks. The smaller amount of memory will also mean that you are going to see sluggish performance, in case, you need to run several programs simultaneously.

Dell Inspiron Mini 1018 Price – At the time of writing Inspiron Mini 1018 Netbook was available at amazon at a price close to $450 with 160 GB SATA hard disk. This price puts it on the same level as some of the entry level notebooks. So, if the mobility, small size and battery life are not your primary concerns, the entry level notebooks are good alternatives.

Hard Disk – The mini 1018 with with two choices of the hard disk – 160 GB or 250 GB. A quick price check at amazon reveal that the price of the netbook with 250 GB is about $34 more than the one with 160 GB part.

Dell Inspiron Mini 1018 Display – Dell Inspiron Mini 1018 has 10.1″ TrueLifeTM Widescreen Display at a WXGA resolution of 1024×600. The 720 p HD resolution is 1366 x 768 pixels which means that the net book may not be suited for the hd content display even at 720p HD resolution. The contrast ration of the screen is 181:1 – which is somewhat low by any standard. In practice however, you will find the screen colors bright and shine. It does make watching movie enjoyable.

Connectors and Accessories – Inspiron Mini 1018 has one speaker, which gives out decent audible voice quality. It does provide wireless and wired connection. One of the best features is its fanless cooling system – this will mean more reliable system.

Dell Inspiron Mini 1018 Battery Life – The Dell Inspiron Mini 1018 has a 24 Watt Hour, 3 Cell, Lithium-Ion Battery. If you use the netbook with maximum strain ( wifi on, Display on maximum setting, stress the processor with something running constantly), you get close to 4 and half hour of battery life. A more real life scenario, where you use the netbook with surfing and moderate display setting should result in close to 8 hours of battery life.

When compared with the earlier Mini 1012 Model, Mini 1018 has two less USB ports. The Mini 1018, however, upgraded from Intel Atom N450 to Intel Atom N455. Also the Mini 1018 has two touchpad keys.
