eMachines EL1352G-01w Desktop Review

eMachines EL1352G-01w Desktop is powered by AMD Sempron 145, a single core processor at 2.8GHz speed with 1 MB cache. Available at an affordable price close to $300, this desktop comes with 2 GB DDR3 RAM and 500 Giga bytes hard disk – enough to hold 333,000 pictures or 142,000 audio song files or 263 hours of High definition video.

SuperMulti DVD in the eMachines EL1352G-01w can burn DVDs at a maximum speed of 16X. The gigabit Ethernet in the eMAchines can provide data transfer of at the rates of 10 / 100 / 1000 Mbps for fast internet and Intranet connections. While the 10 and 100 Mbps speed are good for internet connection, the 1000 Mbps Gigabit transfer rate is useful for home intranet, where you can transfer large files from one computer to another. The eMachines EL1352G-01w come with NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE Integrated Graphics card. The graphics performance of this processor is not suitable for any high end gaming.

Included Software
eMachines EL1352G-01w Desktop comes preloaded with Windows 7 64 bit home edition. There are a large number of preloaded software that are either trail version of not very useful to the users. It include Microsoft office starter 2010, a demo version of Microsoft office 2010 and Norton Anti virus 2010 for Internet security, 60 day trial version. You may want to uninstall the Norton Antivirus after the trail period and replace it with some of the free Antivirus software available, in AVG ( Anti Virus Guard). However, the Nero 9 Essentials for DV burning and wild Tangent Game zone for gaming could be useful for you. The eMachines recovery management software could also be useful for data recovery.

The eMachines EL1352G-01w covers manufacturer warranty for one year from the date of purchase which covers both labor and spare parts. As most other desktops that come with preloaded OS, the emachines does not come with restore disc. It does come with other essential parts that includes a power card, eMachines PS/2 keyboard, an optical mouse, and a user’s manual that serves as the quick start guide for beginners.

If you are looking for somewhat higher performance you may like to look for other desktops that come with dual core and multicore processor. However, this machine could be good enough for your home computing if you wish to use it for surfing, email, spreadsheet and other applications that do not demand heavy processing power. This desktop is the best fit for home needs but might not be the best fit for official needs.

    If I add another video card, can this computer handle a second monitor?

    yes,,,, but you must get a low profile card, and even though the board as built in nvida drives, there have been mixed results, and e-machines / acer wants 99.00 for tech support. HIS radeon ati card goes in smooth (39.99 amazon), gigabyte nvidia card would not boot.
