The eMachines eME528-2012 is one of the notebooks that we have little hesitation in recommending. It is not a high end computing machine. It is not made for gamers. It is not made for the developers who need to compile a lot of codes. The eME528-2012 is good enough for your home computing and office use assuming you do not run programs that need extremely heavy processing power. The notebook will let you surf internet, email, do word processing. You should be able to run your favorite applications, play card games and watch movies. Most importantly you can beam the content of the notebook on the LCD TV or a projector with the provided HDMI cable. All this for just $348.00 ( at the time of writing at 66pics) – head to your nearest walmart to grab one, or may be wait for another roll back. It may be wothwhile to take a look at individual components of the eMachines notebook.

The eMachines eME528-2012 is powered by Intel Celeron 900 processor – which is clocked at 2.2 GHz. The Celeron 900 is single core processor, and obviously we are looking for compromise on the processing power front when compared to the other dual core machines available. The Celeron 900 has 1 MB of L2 cache and its front side bus works at 800 MHz. The Front side bus is the interconnection, which connects the processor to another chip, commonly called North Bridge. The North Bridge in turn connects to the memory ( the RAM) and other peripherals. The speed of the FSB is 800 MHz in Celeron 900. Since the processor does not connect to the memory directly ( The intel core i-something processors do), its speed of communication with the memory is a bit slow.

The Memory and Hard disk

eMachines eME528-2012 comes with 2 GB of hard disk. The operating system eats up close to 1 GB, which will leave only about 1 GB for the applications. This is still good enough, unless you are going to use heavy applications that need a large amount of memory. But yes, that is the reason you will find most other slightly more expensive notebooks coming with 3 GB RAM. We do not have complain with the Hard Disk that comes with 250 GB. It should still be good enough for storing more that most of the customers will use before the notebook gets obsolete.

DVD Drive

The eME528-2012 laptop comes with a DVD drive, even if it is inexpensive. Notice that many entry level netbooks priced at 300 something does not come with DVD drive. This present problem to the novice users who wish to install programs that come with DVDs or wish to watch DVD movies. With eMachines eME528-2012 laptop, you do not have to worry about this.

Wired and Wireless Connection

There is rarely any computer that does not come with a wired or wireless connection now a days. Yes you CAN take them granted. And the eME528-2012 is not an exception. Go to any hotel with your boyfriend and hook on to the internet inside the hotel with its wifi hotspot and surf on internet, and chat with your other friends. No more boredom. The eME528-2012 does allow it with its hotspot.

The 15.6″ screen is beautiful to see movies or the contents. The screen in driven by Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M. The notebook comes with HDMI connector, so you can project the content of the notebook on a LCD TV and see it on the LCD TV or the projector. The HDMI output is one more reason that gives us confidence in recommending this noetbook.

Other Features:

And yes the notebook comes with a Built-in 1.3 Megapixel High Definition Webcam with a resolution of 1280 x 1024. This will allow you to show off yourself on the webcam while chatting to a friend. This is highly asked question for anyone who buys a low cost notebooks. Many manufacturer completely remove this thing from the specification adding to confusion. But we repeat again – eMachines eME528-2012notebook DOES COME WITH WEBCAM.

The notebook also come with 3 USB ports and a two in one digital media card reader. The Digital Media card reader comes handy when transferring the contents of the camera to the computer.

If you want to show off the contents of the computer on a projecter the VGA conector will come handy for you. The notebook comes with 4 cell Lithium Ion battery. The battery life is not known , but who cares ? There is electricity plug everywhere.

The notebook comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit Edition. The Norton Internet Trial version will expire in 60 days so be prepared to remove it and intall the free AVG antivirus insted.
