We bought this TV on black friday at walmart. We bought an Emerson black 42′ 720P last year at Walmart(2009 black friday) and have been very happy with it. When my mom said she needed another TV, we made the choice to try Emerson again. BIG MISTAKE!!! This years Emerson black friday deal has a worse picture than the 720P and its 1080P!!! We thought maybe we were getting bad cable reception so we switched rooms and its still crap! Emerson must have put a really crappy TV tuner in this set. We are taking this TV back and getting a Cyber Monday deal from Amazon. This TV has great picture when using a DVD or gaming console, but if you plan to watch cable on this TV I would definitely recommend a different brand!!

No, it does not support an antenae.

    @ZAC

You need to let it scan your channels if you are connecting to Cable TV. You may selected the antenae option by error.

To Chin, my bad, yes you can use an antenae setup.

Maybe if you realize the difference between: 480p, 720p, 1080p you would realize that the larger the screen and larger number of colored dots it takes to make the picture(1080p high def ) the more crappy a regular tv station will look without a high def signal and minimum viewing distance. A quick fix would be to step back and view from farther away, or spend extra cash for a high def sinal like direct TV or blu-ray player. @Zach G

Bought this at walmart for $398.00
Picture is great! Specifications work for what I need.
Top of the line TVs with better specs cost $1500.00 on sale.

So far I love this tv. However, it only does 720p HD. I am on cable using TIVO Premium with a cable card. Is that card my problem?

Gary: I bought this tv also and I compared side by side with more expensive brands and couldn’t tell the difference with my eyes. Perhaps some of you eagle eyes could, but for my money this model is unbeatable.

By the way, what happened to the really cheap HD TV’s we were supposed to be seeing now? I think they are following the oil co.’s policy of “if you have to have it, make them (consumers) pay for it.

I bought this tv from Wal-Mart on black friday. When I got it set up, I thought it was great. On the next Friday while watching the basketball game, the picture went black but I still had sound. I tried rebooting the set and when that did not worka after several tries, i called the service number. After having me reboot several more times, i was told to take the set back to Wal-Mart. When I got there, they exchanged it with no problem but I opted to upgrade for a few dollars more. I was told that was a wise choice as they have been getting the Emerson back as fast as they sold them. I learned a lesson, When buying electronics, buy Japanese. I love my Sony Bravia.

i bought the tv from Walmart.com on black friday. Hooked it up on Sunday (5th), played great until today (8th). It played since 8 pm, at 10:15 the screen went to a screaming static picture then a horizontal white bar, then turned off. I unplugged it, replugged it and it stayed on for 1 minute before doing the same thing. I tried waiting 10 minutes with it unplugged and replugging it and it did the exact same thing. I just sent an email to walmart asking for a replacement, they sent a reply saying bring to store for refund – they don’t have any in our local store and none online. So now i have to purchase another new higher priced tv to replace it.

    so upset.

Not sure if this has been asked, but it has what looks like a usb port on the back below the HDMI 1 port. Is there a way to use the usb port to put in a jump drive with audio or video files and play them on the tv? i figured since it was a usb port you could (like on the PS3), but I can’t seem to get it to work.

This TV doesn’t have “Digital Audio Optical Out” It has “Digital Audio Coaxial Out”. Here is a link…. http://shopping.yahoo.com/search?p=Digital%20Audio%20coaxial%20cable …Any standard RCA Cable will work, but I would get one with a thick shield like the ones in the link. If you look in your owners manual it will show you where the output is on the back of your tv. Your stereo must have a digital audio input for this to work. @Weezy

I also got 1 during my 1st black fri.(2K10) Went back to Wal-Mart during the max. 30 days allowed to get the svc. plan! I’m impressed that ppl. read these! This is my 1st ever 1080p LCD and feel great about the price. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for & I must’ve been lucky… There’s a bug that comes up whenever you change input/pixelation, but it comes back, randomly! When opting for your cable guide, the screen goes black and has to reset said bug; why? If you are an owner want to dicuss, e-mail me w/ EMERSON as the subj. Only other issue, despite Wal-Mart emps. being confused about the ext. plan, is that the unit implies swivel action from frontal image.. dorleans3@gmail.com

Sure you found this out by now, but most providers do not broadcast in 1080p. Best bet is a blu-ray disc and maybe satellite tv.

I had the exact same thing happen to mine. Worked fine since purchase on black friday. The repairman opened it up and found that some wires from the power supply were fried. I’m still waiting on the replacement parts to come in. Hopefully it fixes it.

Bought this TV on Black Friday 2010, after 7 weeks of amazing quality the picture starting turning black until it eventually went out all together. Repair man coming, but not sure how long it will take before I can watch the HD cable I am paying for. I loved the TV until this, now it’s just annoying!

The repair company that Emerson set me up with called me back and said that they couldn’t get the parts needed, so they had to buy the set from me but I get to keep it. I just think its weird that a company can put out a new TV then not supply replacement parts to fix them when they break.

I bought this TV on Black Friday 2010. I have a color problem with mines. My colors are more reds and pinks. I tried to ajust it but it seems to go back to the original settings. The picture is not a a good picture. I have a 32 inch that I got a coulple of years ago on blk friday and the pic on that one is clear. They are both 1080. Is it because the tv is larger the reason my pic is not as good?

Ive had it with emerson. I bought this tv on 10/30/10 and last week half of my screen decided to get these tiny different colored vertical lines on top of a white background. I call up emerson they tell me our repair company will be there the next day to come look at or fix etc. great. Yea right. This co. called me the next day saying they were not coming out and they had to order a part (ok what part is being ordered if they havent looked at it) ok whatever. so i call the repair co back 3 days later and they tell me part should be here in a day or 2, GREAT. nope this other warrenty company calls me the next day and tells me the part is discontinued. dont you think when who ever ordered the part should have found out that day it was discontined. So they want to set up a delivery of a new tv. GREAT right. no i get the confermation email with tracking number for a plasma tv. So back on the phone with emerson. I have gotten such a run around with this company its not funny. I will never buy another emerson product again.

This is the worst TV I have ever purchased. Only had it a year and it has several problems, such as the power supply, inverter board and the connect cable are all bad. Took it to a repair shop to have them tell me there are NO PARTS for the television. I called Emerson and they told me that this was a Limited Addition TV and that there are no parts. This is the biggest bunch of crap I have ever heard!!!!! I will never purchase a tv from Walmart or purchase any more Emerson products. So watch out if you have any problems with LTDN42V68US (serial number) you will be out all the money and no gives a crap!
