Before giving a complete and detailed review of the Gateway NV55C28 review, we would like to give a quick verdict. Available at Fry’s for $499 ( at the time of writing, in deals) , we are impressed with its core i3-370M processor ( dual core, 2.4 GHz, 3 MB L3 Cache) that it comes with. The 4 GB RAM, 500 GB Hard disk, and the HDMI output makes it a real deal.

As part of the Gateway NV55C28 review, we present the most relevant part of the specification of this notebook in brief.

– Intel Core i3-370M, dual core 2.40 GHz processor, 3 MB cache
– 4 GB RAM and 500 GB Hard Disk
– 15.5 inch LCD screen ( 1366 x 768 resolution
– HDMI output
– High Definition webcam ( 1.3 Megapixel)
– 3 USB 2.0 ports
– A VGA port and Audio Ports
– DVD writer

Obviously Gateway NV55C28 have everything that a typical home and office computing environment needs. We see absolutely no reason not to take up this offer, especially since we have seen similarly configured Sony Vaios at close to $650. Here are some detailed analysis of the individual components of the Gateway NV55C28.

The processor

The core i3-370M that powers the Gateway NV55C28 is a dual core processor at 2.40 GHz and outperforms the similarly clocked earlier Intel core 2 processors. The ample 3 MB Cache and the integrated memory controller contributes to its improved performance. However, the lack of the turbo boost function leads to somewhat reduced performance as compared to the Core i5 or the AMD Phenom ii processors. You should not find performancer lack in any of your home or office computing environment. But, of course, there are better processors including Core i5 and core i7.

The RAM and the Hard Disk

Gateway NV55C28 comes with 4 GB of RAM which can be safely assumed to be more than sufficient for most of your tasks including heavy multitasking. The Operating systems takes up close to 1 GB RAM, leaving you 3GB of RAM – enough for most of your needs. The Gateway NV55C28 also comes with a large 500 GB Hard Disk

The Display

Gateway NV55C28 comes with a display 15.6″ in size that has a resolution of 1366×768. The backlight is LED backlit, giving you brighter display.

Webcam and HDMI

The Gateway NV55C28 comes with High Definition Webcam unlike other low cost notebooks. Besides that its distinctive feature includes the HDMI output allowing you to watch movies on a LCD TV or a projector. The two features makes this processor worth serious look, especially since it comes at a relatively affordable cost.

The notebook was found to be in rebate at $499 at frys, making it one of the best bargains for a large notebook under $500.

Gateway NV55C28 Pros

– Relatively Inexpensive
– HDMI output

Gateway NV55C28 Cons
