HP Pavilion dv7-3065dx Review

November 27th, 2009

Let us start with the key specifications of this powerful HP computer available at holiday sales. With a large screen, this notebook comes under the category of the desktop replacement and it a a good value for money at around $700 at the time of review. Of course, we do expect  the prices to fall with time, a timeless phenomenon with all the gadgets of 21st century.

hpKey Specifications

Hard drive 500GB ,  7,200rpm
Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium

System weight without AC adapter 7.1 pounds

I have knowingly omitted some more in depth technical details including chipset details and the graphics card details - as - the common users and buyer is not able to know what these are and makes the buying choice difficult.

The Pros: Has  Blu-ray player normally available only at high end computers. Dedicated graphics, good performance; aesthetically good looking ; touch-sensitive  control keys.

The cons:  audio could have been better, low average battery life, glossy touch pad is not the best.

The verdict: HP Pavilion dv7-3065dx has big-screen and a Blu-ray player and is a good laptop for its money. It could have been better with a better Audio output.

The large 17.3-inch display of this notebooh is driven by LED backlighting and has  16:9 native resolution. The pixes resolution of  1,600×900 nmakes HD videos look great. It is highly recommended for people who like to use larger displays.

The battery life is poor as this notebook. Using an 8 cell battery, the battery life is about 2 hours and 50  minutes. Many other notebooks of this category are able to achieve this much of battery life with just 6 cell battery.

The notebook does come with 1 year industry standard warranty.  Most of the HP notebooks come with a lot of unnecessary software installed that makes the computer slow. This is my biggest complain from HP.

Performance wise this notebook does a great job and is perfect for the all kind of computation intensive tasks including video processing and compilation.
