The Intel Core i5-560M and Core i5-580M processors are the highest performing (at the time of writing ) core i5 notebooks  processors available Both these processors have a nominal clock frequency of 2.67 GHz. However, the difference between them is in the higher turbo frequency of the core i5-580M. While the core i5-560M has a turbo frequency of 3.2 GHz, the turbo frequency of the core i5-580M is 3.33 GHz. Other than that both these processors are identical in specification.

Hyperthreading is enabled in the core i5-560M and core i5-580M, which means that there could be 4 threads running in parallel at a time ( two per core).

The Core i5-560M and core i5-580M have integrated DDR3 memory controller, which reduces latency and increases the memory transfer rate. The communication with the chipset ( intel calls it PCH – the Peripheral Controller Hub) is using fast differential DMI bus.

The core i5-560M and core i5-580M have integrated intel HD graphics. Even while the main processor section is built with 32 nm technology, the graphics section is built with 45 nm technology. The base clock frequency of the graphics section is 500 MHz which can momentrarily increase to 766 MHz if there is an increase in the demand for the graphcs processing power.

The core i5-560M, core i5-580M processors do support the intel virtualization technology (intel VT-x and VT-d) and has support for AES functions.

Some of the notebooks powered by the core i5-560M processor include ASUS B43J-A1B 14″ LED Notebook,HP G72t,HP Pavilion DM4t, Lenovo 2518aju,Lenovo Ideapad V460 and Lenovo ThinkPad T410s among others.
