Kodak EasyShare C195 Review

The Kodak EasyShare C195 is one of the few decent cameras under $80.  The price noted on Walmart as well as Amazon were both $79 at the time of writing.  Buying online Vs in store is a matter of personal choice.  My personal preference is buying at store unless buying online promises a substantial price advantage.

Kodak EasyShare C195 digital camera comes with 5X optical Zoom in 35mm format and 5X advanced digital zoom that covers a focal range of  35mm to 165mm. Most of the cameras in this price range come with only 3x optical zoom and while we can not regard it as suitable for professional wide-angle photography, it is certainly decent enough.

The sensor of Easyshare C195 is CCDs sensor and is 1/ 2.3 inches in size which is generally common for all digital compact camera or point to shoot camera.

Do you know ?

A higher megapixel does not necessarily translate into a better camera. The Image sensor size is more important parameter to look for when buying a camera – Read the Megapixel Myth and the importance of Camera Sensor Size.

The camera comes with 14 megapixels ( effective), however sensor consist of 14.5 megapixels

Now some concerns – The Camera takes in AA battery. Whether you use Alkaline batteries or the rechargeable one is upto you. The Alkaline one drains fast and it cost money every time you go to buy them. But these are ubiquitous and cheap. A big note – you will need to buy a set of the AA chargeable batteries and the charger.

Another concern – the camera does not come with memory card – as do most of the point and shoot camera. So be prepared to buy a 2 GB SD Card ( 4 GB will be better if you plan to use it a lot for Videos).

Kodak C195 digital camera comes with image stabilization for still photography, so you don’t have to worry blurring of photo due to camera shake.

The ISO sensitivity of EasyShare C195 ranges from 64-400 when set to Auto while one can manually set it up to 1000.

The camera comes with white balance as well.

Kodak EasyShare C195 equipped with  3 inch LCD screen, can shoot videos in VGA format  at 640 × 480 and with speed of  30fps. Incase of video there is only digital zoom no optical zoom. While recording video you will not get image stabilization feature unlike still photography.

The shutter speed  range include from ¼- 1/4000 th second so you can shoot  still object to moving object  even a bird flying in a sky, however lens specs and aperture is also comes as an important factor.

It can record still photography in JPEG/EXIF v2.21

When comes to storage  Kodak Easyshare C195 comes with 32MB internal memory. The memory is offered in SD/SDHC card expansion slot

Finally, Kodak EasyShare C195  is 14 effective megapixels  camera 1/2.3-inch CCD sensor and has  5X optical zoom .

It is affordable camera with good optical zoom. The dimension and weight are pocket-friendly as well that is 3.8 × 2.4 × 1.2 in. and 177g including battery and card.

The optical zoom of EasyShare C195 provides 35-165mm in 35mm film formats. The display on the back side of the camera is pretty well with 3-inches at a resolution of 230k pixels. Kodak’s scene/subjecting recognizing Smart Capture technology and one-touch Share button  which Kodak highlight more than anything  is very useful for uploading pictures to social networking sites and also video shootings.

The C195 Digital camera comes with preinstalled scene settings which ranges from portraits to landscapes, including fireworks, snow, beach and baby modes, self portrait, sports, panorama. The camera is  good for beginner as well. So we can conclude that at $79  is not a bad deal.

    @Chiradeep

“it’s” is not a possessive pronoun; “it’s” is a contraction of “it is”. Example: It’s a nice day.
The possessive pronoun you want is “its”. Example. The cat is cute. Its fur is soft.

I want the date printed on my pictures. I bought this camera because I noticed you can set the date on the camera. But the date doesn’t print on the pictures when I make prints. Does anyone know if I can get the date to print on the pictures?

how do i set the ISO of my c195 to manual 400

  6. Lou says:

Lisa’s pictures are blurry because she did not go into the menu to set up image stabilization so that it is “ON”. You need to do this every time that the camera is turned “OFF” and later turned back “ON” again. Every time the camera is turned “ON” it goes back to “Default Mode”. This is why you must set up image stabilization to “ON” each and every time you turn “ON” the camera. There is NO image stabilization or Optical zoom while in “Video Mode”, only digital zoom.
