NVIDIA is the market leader in the field of graphics card for personal computers and laptops. They recently launched a graphics card for laptops named NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M which is the a sophisticated design to provide high performance for the graphics applications. This graphics card is based on GF 106 graphics processor core.

The core is connected to the RAM memory which can be DDR5 RAM through a 192 bit bus. But when you compare GeForce GTX 460M  with GF104 you can say that the memory controller is half of what was contained in GF104. This architecture is not backward compatible. But performance wise it is way ahead then its predecessors like GF104, GF100 but some times during the worst case scenarios the performance of this GeForce GTX 460M is even lesser than that of its predecessors.

This GeForce GTX 460M is completely different from its predecessors because of its new design which are due to architecture changes. So comparing its from its predecessors is but you can surely compare it with the other graphics cards of similar performance and cost. AMD’s HD 5850 is a close comparison for this which matches it with performance

This  is also a graphics card which can accelerate High Definition for playing High definition content on laptops. This supports Blu-ray format and it can help in accelerating the same.

The technology used for the video decoding in GeForce GTX 460M is called PureVide HD. The video processor used in this is called VP4 or VideoProcessor4 this can decode lot of available video formats in the market such as all the videos compared by MPEG standards , VC1, Windows Media Video 9 and  also H.264. This also supports Picture in Picture video, the main feature here is that the videos played in the Picture in Picture can be High Definition also. As said by NVIDIA, GeForce GTX 460M  also supports 3D Vision which enables us to get the good feel when playing 3D games. The Thermal Design Power as stated by NVDIA is less than 72 Watts.

There is a similar model for desktop personal computers which is named as GeForce GTX 460 which is built using the GF104 core graphics processor. But when you compare it with GeForce GTX 460M for performance GeForce GTX 460 which is designed for Personal computer tops the performance charts and also cost effective. But for laptops when you need good graphics performance GeForce GTX 460  is the best around.

This is not a review…..merely a summary of features.

A review should have benchmarks, comparisons and various other performance tests.

    Pathetic.
