Sony DSLR A290 Review and Price

About Sony DSLR A290

Sony introduces one of two of the latest additions into their digital SLR camera lineup – the Sony DSLR A290. This, alongside the A390, model is expected to hit the market in summer of 2010. And with its arrival, it holds a lot of promise for entry-level users who are looking for a DSLR camera that offered them a generous array of creative features to work with. Thus, make sure to read further below to learn more about what Sony DSLR a 290 has to offer.

The successor to this model, the A280 featured a 10.2 megapixel sensor, which has been omitted for this brand new model and replaced with a more advanced 14.2 megapixel sensor with an APS-C size. The Sony DSLR A290 has nearly similar set of features as with the A390, to which it has been jointly unveiled into the press. It will therefore include Sony’s Memory Stick Pro Duo media card and is SD/SDHC compatible. Unlike the earlier DSLR models from Sony, this one is purely intended for beginners with its simple top control layout and a grip design that has been altered to provide you with a more comfortable hold on the device.

In terms of difference between the Sony DSLR A290 and A380, it becomes evident with the displays for both models. The A290 model comes with a 2.7-inch LCD and comes with an optical viewfinder to offer previews of images you have captured. The A390 is more advanced on this one as it is equipped with a tilting display. However, you will still be pleased with its simplified menu system that offers a very manageable interface even for first time users.

But the most important feature to learn about the Sony DSLR A290 would have to be the quality of its captured images. It comes with an intuitive Graphic Display to experiment on shutter speed and aperture, as well as use different effects and exposure settings for the picture. It also comes with an HDMI-output terminal and optional cable to readily transmit the video recordings from this camera onto an HD Ready TV.
