Bigger screen and powerful performance is your interest, and then you must look at this laptop. This is Sony VAIO VPCEC490X. This laptop comes with 17.3-inches screen and powered through Intel Core i3-380M processor. Importantly, Sony VAIO VPCEC490X is priced reasonably and will be a better replacement for your desktop. It is little heavy with 6.8 lbs. In fact, the looks of this laptop is not that good like any other of the F series notebooks, but sported a clean look. It has matte black lid and glossy black deck. This laptop comes with 4GB RAM, 320 GB, optical drive and many more.

Intel Core i3-380M Processor:

This processor works through two cores and four threads. This processor is clocked at 2.53 GHz. It has Intel Smart Cache of 3 MB capacity.   This processor has integrated graphics as Intel HD Graphics with dynamic frequency. Graphics base frequency is 500 MHz and maximum dynamic frequency is 667 MHz.  This graphics card comes with Intel Flexible Display Interface and with Intel Clear Video Technology. Other notable feature include

– dual display capabilities.

– support 64 bit

The core i3-380M significantly outperforms Intel’s own similarly clocked Core 2 processor .

This laptop is powered through Intel Core i3-380M processor. This processor is clocked at 2.53 GHz. It has 3MB of L3 Cache.

This laptop comes with 4 GB capacity DDR3 RAM> There is 320 GB hard drive. This hard drive is SATA type and rotates at 5400 rpm.

Optical drive:

Sony VAIO VPCEC490X  is arranged with one SuperMulti DVD burner. This can read and write CDs and DVDs in multiple formats with Double-Layer support.

Display and Graphics:

This laptop screen is 17.3-inches with 1600 x 900 pixels resolution. HD videos would be truly pleasurable through this display.This laptop also comes with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 graphics with 512 MB capacity VRAM.

Input Devices:

Sony VAIO VPCEC490X  is arranged with a large keyboard that is comfortable for typing. It has number pad and along with little room to spare. Keys are big and provided a snappy spring for easy typing.

Touchpad of this laptop is also bigger with plenty of space on the deck. The two mouse buttons of this touchpad are springy and quite responsive too.


Sony VAIO VPCEC490X  is arranged with Ethernet LAN for wired connectivity and Wi-Fi Wireless networking 802.11 b/g/n too.


There is one built-in webcam for this laptop along with built-in microphone for video chats over the internet.


There are built-in speakers arranged with this laptop. The sound quality through these speakers is just reasonable not really good enough.

Sony VAIO VPCEC490X  is arranged with one memory card reader, three USB 2.0 ports, one ExpressCard/34 slot, one HDMI output port, one VGA port, one headphone jack and one microphone jack.


This laptop is arranged with a Lithium-ion battery pack that offers two hours fifty four minutes battery backup for the laptop.
