Samsung Instinct HD Product review

December 13th, 2009

With the HD in the end, Samsung Instinct HD is a mere follow up to its predecessor that premiered last year. With the HD accompaniment, it is obvious how the developers wanted to bring forth the high definition experience even through your phone. But did they succeed in doing so? Find out more below.

Overview

Upon first impression, one could easily mistake Samsung Instinct HD with any other mobile phones in the market today. It consists of a mainly black exterior with silver accents on the sides and edges. However, one must not be deceived by its looks as this phone model actually packs a lot of punch into its thin and lightweight body. In fact, you can easily use this phone with your single hand and that is just the start for all the conveniences that this phone can introduce to your life.

The device comes with a perfectly smooth front panel and the typical call/disconnect button have been replaced with a touch-sensitive pad that makes executing these functions even more precisely. You can see buttons and ports on either sides of the body. On the left side, you can access the voice command and voice control options. On the right side, you can access the video out, camera shutter button, and sync/charge port. At the top of the Samsung Instinct HD unit are the power/lock button and the headphone jack.

One interesting bit of feature on the Samsung Instinct HD is the lack of a QWERTY keyboard due to its emphasis on the multimedia experience over messaging functions. Hence, those who are used to this keyboard layout might have to overcome a learning curve before you can use it with ease.

As for the performance, one would be quick to realize that this isn’t actually as intimidating of a smartphone as it initially appears. Launching applications or doing basic functions are pretty basic. Some users have complained about the smartphone’s interface but once you had it figured out though, it should be pretty easy performing some applications.

Pro’s

There are a few shining moments for this smartphone that makes the usage experience quite of a treat:

The screen is impressive and the overall build makes it look sophisticated.

The camera is easily accessible and produces great quality photos, for those who love to capture memories most of the time.

Con’s

Here are some of the drawbacks to using the Samsung Instinct HD that will make you want to rethink your decision to make a purchase:

The battery life is a cause for concern and given that this phone model emphasizes multimedia functions over messaging, then you can be prone to being caught with a dead battery.

Surprisingly though, even the quality of the video taken through the phone aren’t that impressive. Even the voice quality is a bit substandard.

The virtual keyboard is nearly unusable and quite complex to figure out.

Final Thoughts

To determine whether you must buy Samsung Instinct HD is all about personal preference. It comes with fabulous graphics and impressive screen but there are also a lot of issues involved with other functionalities. If you are willing to deal with those issues mentioned above, then you have no problem having fun using this smartphone model anyways.

HTC Droid Eris Review

November 14th, 2009

HTC Droid Eris is  a rebrand of the older HTC Hero. HTC’s Touch devices must be familar with  its style. The HTC Touch devices generally have rounded corners and are very smooth to handle. The HTC have  construct and give a feel of sturdiness. If you like figures,  HTC Droid Eris measures 4.45 inches x 2.19 x 0.51 and has a weight of  4.23 ounces – making it one of the most  slim android phone available. The HTC  Droid  has a proximity sensor that will make the screen turn off when you’re taking up a  phone call. This prevents any accidental dial while you are taking a  call.

LCD screen of Droid Eris has 3.2-inch HVGA screen with capacitive touch screen. The screen has  resolution of 320×480-pixel and the screen gives vivid color and brightness. The  operating system is   Android OS 1.5. If you are looking for the latest 1.6 or 2.0, you will be disappointed.

The HTC has accelerometer that allows screen to change its orientation from portrait to landscape and vice versa. This feature does ot work in all application  works only in certain applications, such as photos,  Web browser.

The accelrometer also has the onscreen keyboard change its orientation, depending upon phone’s position.

The use of capacitive touch screen makes it possible to  use great feature including scrolling through  lists, or browsing through the various hom   screens.Droid Eris offers  multitouch support made possible by its capcitive touch screen. It is possible to  zoom by pinching your fingers and by double-clicking the screen.

There are four navigation buttons below just below the display : Home, Menu, Back, and Zoom. These  navigation buttons are touch sensitive and are not physical buttons.

The Droid  has a number of  feature that makes it well placed compared  to the other Android phones in the market. It has Bluetooth, voice dialing,   a calculator,   voice mail, a speakerphone, Wi-Fi, USB mass storage, and a voice recorder. It  includes Google applications including Google Maps, Google Calendar,YouTube,  Google search, and GT (  Google Talk) .

If we look into the internal hardware, the Droid  has the 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7600 processor. The phone performs reasonably good on most application and the speed issue is not observable. However, the web browser loading sometimes seems to drag on. The rated batter life of Droid Eris is  3.5 hours of  talk time. The standby time is  about 15.5 days.

The phone is very well  designed and for its price, deserves  a look.

HTC HD2 Review

November 8th, 2009

This review is about the HD2 Cell phone from HTC

There are two things makes HTC HD2  a class above other - a big 4.3″  display and a fast 1GHz processor. The HTC HD2 mobile phone uses Windows Mobile 6.5.  This phone is  is one of the best Windows Mobile Phone currently available on market. The phone had been designed from the scratch and with the user in mind.

The phone has a capacitive touch screen with cabalility of muti touch. It is not resistive touch screen.  This helps it in giving iPhone like feel. The capacitive touch screen is not a new phenomenon. It is now very widely used in many touch screens now a days.

The operating system is windows. Though Windows looks good, the phone could have been smoother and faster with Android.

The HTC phone has  Snapdragon 1GHz processor swhich is what makes it very fast. The HTC HD2 phone has a 5 megapixels camera and it is able to keep fast because of the fast processor..

In my view the  HTC HD2 is one of the best Windows Mobile 6.5 phone available today. Its big 4,3″ screen, 5 megapixel makes it a great phone

Take a look at the youtube video review of this phone.
