HP Envy 14 Review

HP recently announced their second generation of Envy laptop/noebook series HP envy 17 and HP envy 14.  We have previously discussed about envy 17. Today I am going to write about HP Envy 14 review.

Whenever HP releases a new model, it becomes breaking news. Here it also not an exception. HP Envy 14 equipped with promising feature and will be available at attractive price. The basic model starts with $999 only.

Basic Specifications of HP Envy 14

Envy 14 integrated with choices of processor Intel core i3, i5 and i7. The screen is of 14.5” having resolution of 1600*900 pixels (16:9) format

When Graphics is concerned HP Envy comes with switchable graphics ATI Mobility Radeon 5650  and Intel HD graphics. So when u need to watch movies or playing games ATI Radeon will come into use and for daily chores Intel HD graphics are perfect.

Extra Features:-

HP envy 14 comprises of  HDMI output, VGA output, Mini DisplayPort along with common connectivity features

It also comprises of elective 3G/WWAN.

It comprises with ATI Eyefinity multi-display technology which allow user to watch three additional displays at a time. This technology permits connection with three external displays

For enhancing music experience it comes with Premium Beats audio technology

When comes battery life, it has an impressive up to 8 hours long battery life. Of course for enjoying prolongs battery hours, you need to switch off your dedicated graphics.

Like HP envy 17, it also has backlit keyboard. Here it differs from HP envy 13 which is lack of backlit keyboard.

HP envy 14 weighs only 5.25 pounds and 1.1 inch wide and has magnesium/aluminum alloy cover.

Finally, HP envy series provide great speed and performance compare to latest laptops and notebook having similar specifications and I hope HP Envy 14 will become a promising one like it predecessor.

HP Envy 17 review

Hp has brought 2 new Envy models envy 17 and envy 14 and also refreshes its pavilion series. It is mentioned by the company that HP envy 17 can surpass desktop PCs in respect of performance. Starting at $1399 price tag, this new envy model comprises of powerful graphics with DDR5 VRAM and up to core i7 quad core processor; all enclosed inside a laser-etched aluminum cover.

HP Envy Specs

The all new HP Envy 17 powered by choices of core i5 processor which can upgradeable up to i7 quad core processor, integrated with turbo boost technology to enhance processors performance.

HP Envy 17 comes with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 graphics which has an independent memory of 1 GB DDR5 VRAM. Also, it is backed by DirectX 11 technology to boost up gaming performance.

The main memory comprises of 4GB DDR3 RAM. There is room for upgrading it up to 8GB.

The 17.3” HP BrightView Infinity LED display comes with full HD feature with resolution up to 1920* 1080p. It also comes with HP true vision webcam.

When storage concerned, it offers with 320 GB to 1T SATA dual hard drive. HDD speed includes 5400 to 7200 rpm depends upon the hard drive a user go with or an elective 160GB Solid State drive flash module for longer battery life. The Hard-drive loaded with Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit.

HP Envy comes with large island –style backlit keyboard which houses a numeric keypad and well-spaced clickpad

For optical drive there are options of DVD burner or Blu-ray ROM drive.

For connections HP Envy 17 comprises 3 USB 2.0 ports including one eSATA combo port, one USB 3.0 port, HDMI output, 5-in card reader.

When network concerned, it comes with Intel draft wireless-N for wi-fi backed with optional Blue tooth and Gigabit Ethernet for wired networking.

Battery life includes 2.5 hours battery life with 6 cell li-ion battery. When upgraded to 9 cells it provides 3.5 hours of battery life

Significant features-

Hp Envy 17 integrated with ATI Eyefinity multi-display tool, that allow user to hook up  three external displays.

For photo and video editing, it offers preloaded Corel PaintShop Pro and Corel VideoStudio.

Hp protect smart features offers data loss protection by locking data if the laptop fallen accidentally.

Pros

1) HP envy 17 comes with USB 3.0 which transfer data very fast.

2) User can play powerful games.

Cons

Some user complained about heating problem , if its comes with i7 processor.

Short Battery life.

no switchable graphics for saving battery life

Conclusion

So if you are looking for laptop which can perform daily activities  as well as entertain you then you can choice HP Envy. The base price is also looks little high.In my opinion if manufacturer increase battery life then it become one of the featured laptops.
