Toshiba C655-S5140 is a 15.6 inch notebook powered by Intel core i3-380M , dual core processor clocked at 2.53 GHz. It comes with 4 GB RAM and 500 GB of hard disk. The Satellite C655-S5140 was recently available at staples at a bargain price of $499, making it a definite buy at that price, especially since we have seen more expensive Pentium P6100 ( 2 GHz) and Pentium P6200 ( 2.13 GHz) based notebooks. The core i3-380 is better than these processors not only because of its higher clock frequency but also because it has some more features including hyperthreading.

Key Features at a Glance

– Intel Core i3-380M, dual core 2.53 GHz processor, 3 MB smart cache
– 4 GB RAM, 500 GB Hard Disk Drive
– 15.6 inch screen with 1366 pixel x 768 pixel resolution
– Wired and Wireless networking
– DVD burner

Some details about the individual components of the Toshiba Satellite C655-S5140 notebook.

The intel core i3-380M that powers the Toshiba Satellite C655-S5140 is a dual core processor clocked 2.53 GHz. Its 3 MB Cache memory improves its performance. The newer Arrandale architecture with integrated memory controller makes further improvement in the performance. The only drawback, of course is, the lack of the turbo function. And if you are looking for turbo, you may like to take a look at some of the core i5 based processors. In any case the processor is better that the Pentium P6100 and the P6200 processor which have been seen recently in many of the entry level notebooks.
