Windows 8 Expected to be released in 2012
One of the notable things in the 2011 CES ( COnsumer Electronics Show) was the announcement by Microsoft about the release of the Windows 8 sometimes in 2012.
Windows 7 has been hailed by critics as a stable and wonderful operating system. With this we expect that Microsift is not going to experiment much in the Windows 7 operating system. However, there are going to be some significant change, as far as the support for the other platforms are concerned.
The Windows 8 will have the support for the SOCs and the ARM processors. This should be delight for the chipmakers who are relying upon the high performance low power ARM based chips. Take for example the future release of the Tegra 3 processor from NVidia. This processor, will have a performance equivalent to or better than the core 2 Duo Intel processor. Tegra 3 will launch in 2011 end, and the launch of the Windows 8 in 2012, will match the platform launch of Tegra 3.
Intial builds of the Windows 8, have started appearing. The first Beta of the Windows 8 is expected to be launched in the summer of 2011. The ARM community will be eagerly waiting to test this out.
