WordPress picture Uploading Not Working – Unable to create directory ?

Do you get an error something like the one below when you tried to upload a picture in your wordpress ?

Unable to create directory /home/content/something1/spmething2/wp-content/uploads/2011/03. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

Chances are that this happened because you moved you host. What happens when you move your host is that the absolute path to the WordPress upload directory changes. So when you are trying to upload your picture, it tries to write to a directory that no longer exists.

Fixing the issue is relatively simple After logging in as Admin, go to – Settings >> Media in your WordPress and alter the path next to “Store uploads in this folder”.

It may not be necessary to put the absolute path to your WordPress directory. The relative path may just work as well. If your blog is, for example hosted at starredreviews.com – your relative path to your WordPress uploads directory photo directort would look like

wp-content/uploads

Notice that, this is also the default setting.

The absolute path may look like something

/home/yourusername/wp-content/uploads

Try this and see if its does work.
